Sometimes, God's deliverance comes in the most unexpected places. For Heather, it came at a ladies retreat in Marshall Campground, Michigan—a moment that would forever change the trajectory of her life.
The Weight of Oppression
Before her breakthrough, Heather was living under a crushing weight of oppression and depression. The struggle was so intense that she was taking 36 different pills twice a day just to cope and function. Each day felt like a battle she couldn't win, an exhausting cycle of trying to survive rather than truly live.
"It felt like a weight I couldn't escape—no matter what I did, it followed me," Heather shares. "I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and just trying to make it through each day."
A Divine Encounter
When Heather attended her first ladies retreat at Marshall Campground, she didn't arrive with grand expectations. She simply knew she needed God. And in His perfect timing and infinite love, He met her exactly where she was.
"I didn't go with expectations—I just knew I needed God," Heather recalls. "And He SHOWED UP."
In that sacred space, surrounded by the presence of God and fellow believers, everything changed. The chains of oppression and depression that had bound her for so long were broken in an instant. What medication and human effort couldn't accomplish, God did through His supernatural power.
"In that place, in His presence, God completely broke the chains of oppression and depression off my life," Heather testifies. "What I had been carrying for so long… He lifted in a moment. I felt His power, His peace, and His freedom in a way I cannot fully put into words."
A New Beginning
Heather didn't leave that retreat the same way she came. She experienced genuine deliverance—not just emotional relief, but true spiritual freedom. This wasn't coincidence or temporary emotion. This was the delivering power of God at work.
"That was not coincidence. That was not emotion. That was DELIVERANCE," she emphasizes.

The Jacket: A Symbol of Victory
Fast forward to March 2026, and I had the privilege of meeting Heather at the Michigan District Ladies mini retreat in Flint, Michigan. As a vendor at the event, I was offering a custom painted jacket giveaway—and Heather's name was drawn as the winner.
When she received her jacket, her joy was evident: "I received my beautiful jacket today! I LOVE it!! I can't wait to wear it tomorrow! Thank you so very much for such a blessing!"
That jacket is more than just a beautiful piece of clothing. It's a tangible reminder of God's faithfulness, a symbol of the victory He won in her life, and a testimony she can wear that points others to the Deliverer.
A Message of Hope
Heather's story isn't just her own—it's a beacon of hope for anyone struggling under the weight of depression, oppression, or any other chain that seems unbreakable.
"God is still a deliverer," Heather declares. "God is still a healer. And what He did for me, He can do for anyone!"
Her testimony is living proof that there is freedom in Jesus. There is hope. There is a way out. No matter how long you've been bound, no matter how impossible your situation seems, God is still in the business of breaking chains.
"I am living proof that God still breaks chains," Heather says with conviction. "All glory to Him for changing my life."
Reflection
As I reflect on Heather's journey—from battling depression with medication every day to walking in complete freedom—I'm reminded that our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. The same power that raised Christ from the dead is available to anyone who calls on His name.
If you're reading this and you're struggling, know that God sees you. He knows your pain. And He is ready to meet you right where you are, just as He met Heather at that retreat.
Sometimes all we need to do is show up, knowing we need God. And He will do the rest.
🙏🔥.
